At The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles
Join us at the recently opened exhibition of royal textiles, guided by museum docent Miss Pornthip, to view textiles that have never been seen by the public before. The Royal Court Textiles of Siam exhibition is hosted in honor of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary in 2024. Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, as chairman of the advisory board of the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, counselled and facilitated in organizing this exhibition. The exhibition highlights His Majesty the King’s outfits worn during his May 4, 2019 coronation, a royal ceremony of ancient tradition that has been practiced since the Ayutthaya period, and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s white ceremonial cloth worn during his coronation in 1950. A variety of royal court textiles: Yia Rabap, Khem Khab, Attalat, and Sompak Poom that are included in the exhibition have never been displayed. The Royal Court Textiles of Siam aims to disseminate knowledge and promote an appreciation and understanding of royal court textiles, as well as styles and ancient traditional practices.
